2. ARE YOU ‘FEARED’ OR RESPECTED?
Food for Thought:
2. ARE YOU ‘FEARED’ OR RESPECTED?
It
is often said that respect is earned and not coerced. When not earned, it does
not last, especially if demanded based on age, position, gender, social status
or people's fear of you. To earn respect, you have to respect others,
regardless of who they are.
It
starts with respecting yourself
-
You have to love and carry yourself with dignity.
-
Whenever you come into a place, greet those you meet there
-
Avoid shouting at others – you can still make your point by speaking in a
normal tone
-
Do not despise or look down on others
-
Whenever someone greets you, be kind to answer back nicely
The
Bible says, “Honour all people…” (1st Peter 2:17b).
Know
that respect begets respect.
Respect
others properly, starting today.
