30. MERCY AND TRUTH

Image
FOOD FOR THOUGHT 30. MERCY AND TRUTH Proverbs 3:4 says, "And so find Favour and high esteem in the sight of God and man." Most times believers dwell more on finding favour and high esteem (good understanding) in the sight of God and man. We hardly remember 'And so', that begins verse 4. It is a follow up to verse 3! Proverbs 3:3 says, " Let not mercy and truth forsake you, bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart." The thing to note here is you should not forsake mercy and truth. Mercy and Truth should be an important part of your life. You should always remember to practice Mercy and Truth. When you do this, verse 4 comes into fulfilment.   'And so' in verse 4 gives you assurance. When you diligently practice Mercy and Truth, Favour and High esteem are assured. What is Mercy and Truth? According to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, MERCY is a kind or forgiving attitude shown towards somebody you ha...

29. GOD'S WORD

Image
FOOD FOR THOUGHT 29. GOD'S WORD Jesus is God's Word. John 1:1 says, In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:14 also says, And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Hold on to Jesus. That's how to hold on to God's Word. All the woman with the issue of blood did in Mark 5:25-34 was to touch God's Word. And she was made whole. All she said was, "If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well." She believed in Jesus. Believe God's Word. Say God's Word. It will manifest. 28. GOD'S WORD WILL COME TO PASS

Image
FOOD FOR THOUGHT 28. GOD'S WORD WILL COME TO PASS   In Exodus chapter 3:7-10, God told Moses what He wants to do concerning the children of Israel. Verse 8: "So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, ..." Verse 10: "Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt." Moses went to Egypt. With the help of Aaron his brother, delivered God's message to Pharaoh. Pharaoh refused and added to their burden. God sent ten plagues. Eventually, Pharaoh release them. The children of Israel left Egypt with wealth. At the red sea, Pharaoh's army came behind them. After all the time it took to be released, despite the plagues, it seemed the end had come for the children of Israel. Exodus 14:29-30 : "But the children of Israel had walked on dry land i...

27. FEAR GOD

FOOD FOR THOUGHT 27. FEAR GOD Exodus 1:15 -17 "Then the King of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah; and he said, "When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live." But the midwives FEARED GOD and did not do as the King of Egypt commanded them but saved the male children alive. It is very important and rewarding to fear God. 'Fear God' means you put God First in your Thoughts and Actions. "Therefore God dealt well with the midwives and the people multiplied and grew very mighty. And so it was, because the midwives feared God, that He provided households for them. " (Exodus 1: 20-21) When you fear God You will live above sin You will live holy You will live well by the Strength of Jesus Christ (Philippians 4 : 13) As you fear God, you will be blessed. You will ...

26. GOD SEES THE WHOLE PICTURE

Image
Food for Thought 26. GOD SEES THE WHOLE PICTURE Someone shared this with me about Joseph. Read Genesis Chapter 37 and from Chapters 39 to 50. Joseph had a dream. He told his brothers about it. They became jealous and sold him into slavery. Although Joseph became a slave in Potiphar's house, life started looking good again until Potiphar's wife demanded sex from him. Joseph refused, chose to be godly and ran away ... but Potiphar's wife framed him with attempted rape!  Suddenly life feels rough again, and Joseph wonders. " Oh God, why me? What are you doing to me? What about my dreams of greatness?" It seemed Joseph's brothers and Potiphar's wife had conquered Joseph. Despite all these troubles, however,God Himself had already seen the whole picture of Joseph's life from beginning to end. How do I know?  Genesis 45:7 and 8 states, " And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliveranc...

25. STANDING FOR CHRIST

Image
Food for Thought 25. STANDING FOR CHRIST. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says," Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness." Andrea Boeshaar's Novel, ' The Long Ride Home,' refers to 'making a difference for Christ and how believers need to behave in a manner that counters worldly trends and standards.' " It might not be popular, and you might lose a few friends... But God will honour your obedience. Try it and see... Our life's purpose as Christians is to glorify the Saviour in everything we do."  Be the believer in Christ God wants you to be at work, with family, friends and your community!  In Matthew 5:16 Jesus said, " Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Be proud to be a true believer in Christ who brings glory ( honour, worship, praise) to God. " ... Conduct ...

23. TRUST GOD!

Image
Food for Thought 23. TRUST GOD! Trust is confidence in or reliance on some person or quality.  Dependence upon something in the future; Hope.  The Bible says in Jeremiah 17: 5 and 6; Thus says the LORD: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength,  Whose heart departs from the LORD. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,  And shall not see when good comes,  But shall inhabit the parched Places in the wilderness,  In a salt land which is not inhabited."  Let God be the first Person you think of to trust. Lean on Him, pray to Him. Ask Him questions. Let Him lead you, and He will!  Jeremiah 17:7 and 8 also say;  "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,  And whose hope is the LORD.  For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,  Which spreads out its roots by the river,  And will not fear when heat comes But its leaf will be green,  And will not be anxious in the year of drought,  ...
